JU Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan team visit Village Bajalta

JAMMU: The core committee of JU Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan comprising of Dr.Samridhi Arora, Dr. Sarika Manhas, Dr. N.Suresh Rao and Dr. Hema Gandotra made a visit to village Bajalta, one of the five adopted villages by University of Jammu.
Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan is a flagship programme initiated by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India with an objective to engage reputed higher educational institutions of the country for the cause of community services.
University is conducting activities on a regular basis in the selected villages. The committee today interacted with Rehmat Ali, Chairman, VDC, Sarpanch of Chak village and other members of the Gram Sabha regarding various issues pertaining to the village.
The key issues discussed were awareness of various schemes of Government of India, up gradation of lower High School, lack of basic amenities like road connectivity, street lights, health cards, primary health centre, community hall and provision of ATM.
A threadbare discussion related to these issues was taken up by the committee members and it was decided to take the following activities on priority basis- Health check up camp and installation of ATM in village Chak.
To take up these issues, the Convener, UBA, Prof. Jasbir Singh (DSW,JU) will approach the concerned authorities for the necessary action.
The committee also assured them that the rest of the issues will be taken up in a phased manner.
The team was accompanied by volunteers Harshvardan Singh and Kashu Pandey.
