GD Goenka celebrates Indian Army Day

JAMMU: G.D Goenka Public School Jammu, governed by Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust celebrated Army Day.

Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year, to commemorate the day when (then) Lieutenant General KM Cariappa took over General Sir Francis Butcher as Commander-in-Chief of India on January 1949. This year, the Indian Army celebrates 72nd Army Day.

The motto of the Indian Army is 'service before self' and its mission is to ensure national security and national unity, defend the nation from external aggression and internal threats, and maintain peace and security within its borders. 

G.D Goenka Public School Jammu, governed by Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust displayed their patriotism for the brave soldiers of the country lay sending messages filled with gratefulness and love.

The Goenkans celebrated Army Day with the feeling of enlightenment and realization about the role of a soldier in our lives. The children were filled with patriotic feelings when they wrote messages for army men. Army Day is celebrated to be thankful and express feelings of gratitude towards those who fight for us in harsh circumstances and stay away from their loved ones so that the civilians can sleep peacefully.

The Principal Rajesh Rathore lauded this novel activity wherein the budding citizens reflected their love and affection towards the real heroes, that is, the Army men of our proud country. He saluted all the brave souls and greeted “Happy Indian Army day” to them, recollecting the words of his favourite cadet from UP Sainik School, Lucknow, namely, Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey PVC, “If death strikes before I prove my blood, I swear I’ll kill Death”
