May Fair Schools celebrate Grand Parents Day

JAMMU: May Fair Schools celebrated Grandparents Day with great pomp & show.

Parul Khajuria, Cultural Officer Directorate of Information J&K was the Chief Guest; Ashok Sharma Ex-MLA Kalakote was the Presiding Guest along with Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Director Citizen Cooperative Bank Pvt.Ltd, Gaurav Gupta, Secretary Chamber Of Commerce & Industries, Jammu and Gourav Chopra Corporator.

The function started with the lightning of lamp, welcome song and special cultural performances presented by the kids from Pre Nursery onwards classes. Grandmothers and grandfathers attending the function felt truly loved and cherished as the children put up a fantastic show. V.K Basur, Chairman of May Fair Schools, delivered welcome address and also reiterated that grandparents were the greatest support system for better future of the children.

Sandeep Sharma Jammu Maharaj, Anita Basur, Radhika Basur and Abhey Basur Trustees May Fair Schools, Ranjit Kour Principal May Fair School Janipur and Dr. Neha Gupta incharge of May Fair International were also present.

Few Grandparents also spoke of the special bond they shared with grand children and thanked the School Management for their facilitation in the school. Speaking on the occasion, Parul Khajuria said that the importance of grandparents in the lives of children can't be denied. Before our culture became so mobile, it was common for children to grow up surrounded by extended family, including one or both sets of grandparents; who often moved in with their adult children when they became frail. No matter what the situation, the bond between a grandparent and grandchild is precious and unique. That love and care is something to be celebrated, she added.

Typically as the elder of the family, a grandparent fulfils the role of historian of the entire family. They know all the history, genealogy, general knowledge, family traditions and funny stories surrounding their family throughout the years. And in many cases, as only grandparents can, deliver those fun, exciting and interesting facts and stories in a wonderful grand fashion; which children of all ages are often mesmerized by, maintained.

Expressing concern over declining moral values among youth, she also called upon the teaching community to inculcate moral values among students. She said that teachers should play a responsible role in the lives of students. She asked teachers to encourage creativity among students through their teaching. Stating that private schools played a major role in the statehood movement, she also stated that Teachers should help students to differentiate between right and wrong and make them understand the importance of imbibing moral and ethical values.


Gourav Gupta also spoke on the occasion & congratulated the School Management for such a wonderful celebration. Parents, teachers and school management play a collective role to inculcate moral values among children. At the End, Sandeep Sharma gave the vote of thanks.
