Heritage School celebrates 15th Sports Day ‘Fitness Fiesta’

JAMMU: The XV Sports Day of Senior Wing, Heritage School, held today was a glorious celebration of synergy, sportsmanship and high spirits.
School sported a festive look with colourful flags and decorations adorning the school ground with students smartly dressed, earnest and ebullient to showcase their talent on the field. The school choir ‘Minstrels of Melody’ infused the environment with joyous energy by their electrifying renditions.
Brigadier Veteran Anil Gupta, Spokesperson BJP, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shiv Kumar Sharma SSP J&K Police Services was the Guest of Honour. The programme started with the welcome address presented by Arshia Gupta, Head Girl, Heritage School, which was followed by an impressive March Past by the four Houses- Dignity, legacy, Tradition, Culture and the Scouts & Guides contingent. Sholas Pipe Band from 16 Rajput, B.D. Bari, added more vitality & dash to the March Past.
After the spectacular, prismatic and well synchronized parade, the Chief Guest hoisted the sports flag and declared the sports meet open with the lighting of the sports torch. The Sports captain Hani Mohammad administered the oath to the contingents.
It was a day full of exciting races and energetic drill performances and the young athletes captivated everyone’s attention by their enthusiastic and exuberant participation in various races. The Hurdles and Relay Race were the star sporting events which had students cheering & supporting their respective Houses. Each House putting in their best to lift the coveted Sports Day Trophy. The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers, constantly applauded the enthusiastic athletes.
The day’s events reached their pinnacle with an astounding grand finale which was an amazing confluence of drill, dance and music .It enveloped everyone in the sublime feeling of patriotism and infused the surroundings with the spirit of integrity and unity.
It was also a day of celebration of brilliance and hard work as the students who had excelled in the various athletic events and made a mark in academics, were felicitated in a grand prize distribution ceremony. The winners of athletic events were acknowledged by the Principal & Vice-principal Heritage School.
Nirmal Gupta, Founder Trustee, Heritage School, under the School’s Jia Lal Gupta scholarship, gave away a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each to 96 students who had secured 90% & above in class X Board Exam Session 2018-19 .
The students of class IX- Preesha Singh, Diyaa Gupta, Arunima Gulati, Aarush Gupta, Samridhi Lamba, Lavikaa Choudhary, Aadhyant Mahajan, Ahek Aviraj and Dhiba Thakur, who had secured 90% and above for 3 consecutive years, were adorned with Golden Crest on their blazer by the Guest of Honour Shiv Kumar Sharma.
The esteemed Chief Guest Brig veteran Anil Gupta did the honour of presenting academic blazer to Supreet Singh Sudan, Krishna Abrol, Ronak Singh, Vasundhara Sharma, Arihant Sharma, Mohd. Hammad Mir, Priyam Jamwal, Arnuv Raina and Aditya Sharma, students of class X for their stalwart and consistent performance by securing 90% and above for four years in a row.
Mehak Gupta school topper, Arnav Mahajan and Ishan Gupta (Toppers Science), Akshita Khajuria (Topper Humanities) received medallions for their excellent performance in class XII Board Exam session 2018-19. Kartikeya Puri was awarded with the Sports person of the year trophy for his exemplary performance in Inter School Roller Hockey events at State and National level.
Arindam Rai Singh (VI) was acknowledged for his sterling performance in National Level Painting Competition organized by the Government of India, Ministry Of Power, in which he had bagged 3rd position and won a prize money of Rs. 30,000.The Prize Distribution concluded with the Dignity House receiving the Best House Sports Trophy for the academic session 2019-20 and Culture House won the Best March Past Trophy.
The revered Chief Guest in his address to the gathering, complimented the students and staff for putting up such a grand show. He highlighted the importance of sports and games in the students’ life as it helps not only to stay fit and healthy but also builds self-esteem and confidence. He complimented the efforts of the school in promoting sports and contributing towards ‘Fit India Hit India’.
He exhorted the students to be proud of Indian secular credentials and uphold communal harmony and to remember that national interest is always supreme. He also opined that one should be equally conscious of one’s fundamental rights as well as duties. He extended his best wishes to the school and hoped that the school keeps marching on the path of excellence and glory.
Vote of thanks was presented by the Principal, Akash Pradhan who extended his gratitude to the esteemed dignitaries and beloved parents for their gracious presence. He congratulated the teachers and students for their hard work and efforts in making the event a grand success. The programme closed with the National Anthem.
