Sadbhavana Week Celebrations Culminate at MIER College

JAMMU: With the purpose of fostering the spirit of Communal Harmony, National Integration, and Pride among the volunteers, NSS Unit of MIER College of Education organized a series of programs related to National Integration Week from 19th to 25th November.

Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director MIER along with the HOD's, faculty and students of all the departments participated in the function.

During the weeklong celebrations, different activities such as fund-raising campaign, patriotic song competition (Solo),rangoli making competition were organized. NSS volunteers from PG and UG departments participated in all the events with great fervor and zeal.

In the patriotic song competition (Solo) more than 10 volunteers participated and enthralled the audience with their melodious voice. The judges of the competition were Dr. AnnieKoul, QAO MIER, Monika Rathore, Coordinator Centre for Women Studies, Vartika, Music Teacher Model Academy.

First, second and third prizes were bagged by Naresh Kumar from M.Ed., Meenakshi from B.Ed. Special Education and Shakti from M.A. Education.

The fund-raising campaign was inaugurated by Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College. A total sum of Rs.4,390/- was collected. The campaign was initiated by National Foundation for Communal Harmony to help the children rendered orphan in violence.

The inter-departmental rangoli competition was organized on the theme ‘Communal Harmony' which was adjudged by Dr. N.R.Sharma, Dean Academics MIER and Anu Anand, Art Teacher Model Academy.

Eight teams comprising of four participants each participated in the competition. Firstand second prize was bagged by Sunflower Team and Lily Team from M.Ed. third semester and Lotus Team from B.Ed.semester third was adjudged third.

Dr Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College interacted with the NSS volunteers. He lauded the role of NSS in bringing about harmony and goodwill among the diverse cultures of India. He stressed upon the importance of the national integration in our multi-cultural society.

He also motivated the students to involve themselves in activities of social service organized by the Unit and become useful members of the society.

The event was organized under the guidance of Mrs.Komal Sharma, NSSProgramme Officer MIER College.
