GCET students attend skill enhancement course at BHEL Bhopal

JAMMU: A group of 60 students of Electrical Engineering branch along with faculty members of Government College for Engineering and technology visited to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), for a seven day skill enhancement tour.
The tour was conducted by the college management to familiarise students with various technological and managerial aspects concerning the functioning of industries in a real working environment.
The week long programme at BHEL, Bhopal workplace was specifically designed into different modules to provide the students with an all round understanding about the functioning of the company while providing hands on training on latest machineries at the manufacturing plant.
During the programme, students candidly interacted with management and design engineers of the company to gain exposure on the upcoming technologies in the field and also as per today's job market demand.
"Such an initiative will go a long way in strengthening industry-academia interface and also enrich the technical skills of the students", said Principal, GCET Jammu, Dr. Sameru Sharma. She further added that the institute had made ties with reputed industries/CPSUs to impart such trainings to the students of other streams of this institute as well as per their area of interest for which travel /boarding and lodging expenses shall be borne by the institute under TEQIP-III scheme.
Besides, Institution has also organized specialized coaching classes for GATE-2020 and other employability skill enhancement courses on Entrepreneurial skills, Communication skills, Group Discussions, Team working skills etc. under the scheme so as to make the students well equipped to face the challenges of both national and international job market, she added.
The industrial programme at BHEL was conducted under the supervision of Er. Rajiv Kumar Bali, Associate Professor and Head, Electrical Engineering Department.
