JKPS Kunjwani organises workshop-cum- counselling session for girl students

JAMMU: Girls workshops offer in-school programming providing girls with knowledge and skills to gain more control over their lives and become change catalysts in their communities.

"Of all the relationships the relation with parents is the most unique, wonderful, delicate and tender. Even through tumultuous times this relation remains sustainable and connected," Principal of the JK Public School Kunjwani, said.

"The fast pace of today's life has put a great strain on our relationships. The families are disintegrated and there is little communication between the parents and the children," she said and added "We at JKPS feel that the communication between a child and a parent is the most important link for mental health and well being of the child."

For taking the initiative for this, JK Public School Kunjwani a workshop was organised for the girl students of classes IX-XI in the Nelsum Exquisite Millennium Hall on the theme ‘General Awareness and Mannerisms' on Saturday.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Chand Trehan, a lady of illuminating ideas, freelance psychologist, renowned counselor, the best speaker in North India with 23 years of experience, who was the Resource Person for the workshop.

The focus of the session was on certain etiquettes that should be followed by girls at all times, while in school and outside, so that they learn to carry themselves well.

The workshop included discussions on every detail from their mannerisms to dressing up appropriately. Specific inputs are necessary to enhance self-esteem and self confidence, to familiarise them with the status and problems related to women.

She also discussed issues on health, hygiene, menstruation and related physiological knowledge which are not being covered as part of the regular curriculum, help students to explore a universe beyond their text books.

She urged the girl students to have a patient hearing with their parents for better understanding.

She focused that every girl child should make their character tall by adopting a positive attitude towards life. She further said that a painful journey teaches the best lessons of life. All the negativity should be thrown out to grow and develop a strong bonding, she said.

The workshop culminated with a question session wherein certain queries were answered by Dr Chand Trehan.
The school aims at more sessions with different groups of students in coming course of time.
