GCW Gandhi Nagar organises blood donation camp

JAMMU: As a part of series of activities being organised to mark 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu organised a blood donation camp and cleanliness drive under Swachhta Abhiyan.
A large number of volunteers comprising NSS, NCC cadets and Red Cross units of college participated in the camp with great enthusiasm.
Dinesh Gupta, Honourary Secretary, Red Cross Society, Jammu along with Principal, Dr Ravender Kumar Tickoo inaugurated the camp and appreciated the efforts, saying that, "Blood Donation is part of human service and the camp is a befitting tribute to the legacy of Guru Nanak Dev".
Later, the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive around the campus followed by fogging of campus by Jammu Municipality.
On third day, an intra-college symposium was held on topic 'Philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev'.
In total, 13 students participated in the symposium and expressed their views on relevance of Guru Nanak Dev's teachings in present times.
The event was adjudged by Dr Satinder Kour, Prof Hardial Singh and Dr Harjeet Kour. Gazalpreet Kour, Riya Sharma and Supreet were awarded first, second and third prizes respectively.
