43rd UGC General Orientation Course Concludes at JU

JAMMU: Three weeks long 43rd UGC General Orientation Course organized by UGC- HRDC, in Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu concluded today.
The duration of the programme was 21 days (September 11, 2019 to October 01, 2019).
Thirty three Assistant Professors, Assistant Librarians, Librarians from colleges and Universities of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab attended the course during which forty seven resource persons delivered the lectures.
Prof Anil Kumar Raina, Rector Badherwah Campus, was the Chief Guest in the Valedictory function. He motivated the delegates for practically implementing the teachings during the course.
He emphasized that the professionals must play a pro-active role in promoting reading habits, utilizing freely available online information/ knowledge resources available on internet by organizing awareness and orientation programmes for students and society at large.
Prof. Rahul Gupta, Director UGC- HRDC was present on the occasion and highlighted the significance of Orientation Courses for the professionals. While speaking on the occasion he emphasized the importance of such courses for updating the knowledge.
Prof. Sangita Gupta, Head of the Department of Library and Information Science and Course coordinator presented the brief proceeding of the whole programme. She stressed upon the need that now every professional should keep himself or herself abreast of the latest technologies to fulfill the information needs.
Various participants shared their experiences and presented the feedback report of the course.
They have shown their satisfaction in respect of the content, delivery and presentation of all the topic covered during the programme.
Participants also appreciated the hospitality aspect of the event. The certificates to all the participants were presented by the chief guest.
The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Ranjeet Kalra, teaching faculty, UGC-HRDC and the proceedings of the function were made by Dr Bindu Sharma.
