Department of Urdu, JU to organize two-day World Urdu conference

JAMMU: The Department of Urdu, University of Jammu is organizing two day World Urdu conference on 16th and 17th of September 2019 on the topic “Depiction of Regional Culture and Tradition in Urdu Literature”.

The delegates from Canada, UK, Iran, Egypt, Bangladesh are participating in this prestigious conference. A World Urdu Mushira is also being organized on 15th of September 2019, besides a Sham-e-Ghazal is also being organized on 16th of September 2019 evening in which legendary Ghazal singer Ustad Saqwat Hussain Khan from Rampur Garana will entertain the audience through sinning the Ghazals.

This was informed today to media by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, HOD Urdu and Dean Faculty of Arts. He further informed that for the 1st time in the history of Univeirsty of Jammu such a prestigious conference is being organized in which , not only the writers of international repute are participating  but also towering urdu writer from various parts of the country are participating. He said that Ustad Sakhawat Hussian Khan is a legendary Ghazal singer of the country who had agreed to perform in University of Jammu, besides towering Urdu poets within and outside the country are participating in the World Urdu Mushira.

On this occasion, the prestigious award of the Rasa Javedani Memorial award would be presented to Prof. M.K. Dhar Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu from Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society for his overall contribution to the field of Science and his contribution in developing the University of Jammu as a University of International repute. The conference is likely to be attended by Farooq Ahmed Khan and Khursheed Ahmed Ganaie, Advisor to Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. During the conference various Urdu books written by various authors will be also released.

Besides, the scholars would present their Research Papers on the subject of the Conference added Prof. Shohab Inayat malik.
