DODA: The Social Welfare Department Doda in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, organized a prosthetic aid distribution camp today at R&B Dak Bungalow, Gandoh Bhalessa.
The camp was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh and the overall supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Doda, Tariq Parveaz Qazi.
The programme chaired by Sub Divisional Magistrate Gandoh, Arun Kumar Badyal aimed at supporting Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) under the Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) scheme and senior citizens under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY).
During the event, various aids and appliances were distributed to 126 beneficiaries identified during earlier assessment camps in Blocks Jhakyass, Changa and Bhalessa. The distributed items included tricycles (for adults and children), wheelchairs, CP chairs, hearing aids, smart canes, smartphones, daisy players, braille kits, crutches, walking sticks, rollators, callipers, artificial limbs, knee braces, lumbo-sacral belts, silicon foam cushions and more.
The initiative seeks to assist needy disabled persons and senior citizens by providing durable, modern, and scientifically designed aids and appliances. These devices are aimed at reducing the impact of disabilities, preventing secondary disabilities, improving independent functioning, and promoting social, psychological and economic rehabilitation of the beneficiaries.
The event was coordinated by Rajesh Sharma, TSWO Gandoh, and attended by Tushar Chowdhary, Audiologist, along with the technical team from ALIMCO, Mohali. |
