KUPWARA: School Education department Kupwara in collaboration with district administration Kupwara today organized a well attended function at GDC Boys Kupwara to observe the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The event was organized as a part of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign).
The function was attended by Principal, Government Degree College Kupwara, Dr. Abdul Rashid Malik; Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Mehraj-U-Din Shah; ACR Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad; District Education Planning Officer, ZEO Kupwara, ZEPO, besides, youth and students in large number and other concerned stakeholders were also present.
CEO Kupwara delivered the inaugural address and emphasized the pivotal role of youth in eradicating the menace of drug abuse from the society to live a dignified and peaceful life. He urged upon the students to act as ambassadors of the anti-drug awareness campaign in the district to sensitize the people about the ill effects of drug abuse in the society.
Principal GDC, ACR, DEPO and several other speakers, shared their insights and motivational messages aligned with the objectives of the campaign. They delivered speeches with regard to the role and responsibilities of teachers and parents and other responsible stakeholders in eradicating the drug menace from the society.
They laid stress upon the sharing of collective responsibility to save our future from this drug menace.
Two thought-provoking skits on drug abuse and its social implications were performed by students from Government Middle School Anderhama and Green Land Educational Institute Hyhama.
Meanwhile, International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was also observed in various educational institutions across district Kupwara. |
