BUDGAM: In view of the upcoming holy month of Muharram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat today convened a public meeting at Imambara Magam Budgam to review preparations and ensure a peaceful observance of religious events.
DC was accompanied by ADC, CPO and other concerned district and sectoral officers.
Besides, a wide cross-section of the local population, including youth leaders, Shia community representatives, trade union members, market associations, Auqaf Committee members, and volunteers from Magam, Kanterbug, Kanihama, Watmagam, Habbak, Nooripora, and adjoining villages participated in the meeting.
They raised various issues and demands related to Muharram arrangements.
DC gave a patient hearing and addressed several civil administration related concerns such as, water availability, 24x7 electricity, solar lights, availability for ambulances, fire-wood, etc on the spot.
Directions were issued immediately to concerned officers for prompt redressal.
Issues falling under the ambit of police will also be looked upon, and all the necessary arrangements with regard to traffic management on particular procession routes will be taken care of well in advance, DC added.
The meeting reflected active community involvement during the holy period of Muharram ul Haram. |
