Doda observes International Day Against Drug Abuse amid awareness activities, cultural events

DODA: The District Administration Doda organised a special event in the Community Hall Doda to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, featuring events centered on this year's theme "The evidence is clear: invest in prevention. Break the cycle. #StopOrganizedCrime."

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harvinder Singh was the Chief Guest, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Kumar Mehta was the Guest of Honour. School students, civil society members, representatives from NGOs and government officials formed part of the awareness event.

The program started with a welcome speech by District Social Welfare OfficerTariq Qazi, who shared the efforts being made through awareness campaigns to encourage grassroots level community participation in the fight against the Drug abuse.

Students delivered thought provoking speeches about the harmful effects of drugs and how youth can play a decisive role in fighting the menace.

Cultural presentations by artists from the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, delivered important messages against drug abuse through music and dance.

A short film titled "Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan" was screened to highlight the looming threat of drugs on the society and the need to eradicate the menace from the society.

In his address, the DC highlighted the importance of the day and shared the steps being taken by the administration to eliminate the menace of drug abuse. He called on everyone, especially young people and civil society members, to work together to make Doda a drug-free district.

SSP Doda also spoke at the event and urged people to be alert, spread awareness, and support the cause.

Many officers including ACD, Executive Officer MC, Deputy CMO ETO and the Nodal Officer of the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) also took part in the event.

The program ended with a display of paintings made by two students of Parisha and Palash on the theme of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Both students were awarded trophies by DC and SSP Doda for their creative work.

The day was a powerful reminder of the importance of preventing drug abuse and working together as a community to stop it.
