BARAMULLA: In a vibrant display of youth energy and community commitment against drug abuse, Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Zones Tangmarg and Kunzer today jointly organized two impactful events - a Mini Marathon for sub-division Tangmarg and a Girls Kho-Kho competition at playfield Kunzer, under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA).
Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Farooq Ahmad Shah flagged-off the Mini Marathon from Hospital Crossing, Tangmarg, and later presided over the Kho-Kho competition.
The marathon concluded at Higher Secondary School (HSS) Chandilora, with 310 boys participating enthusiastically, carrying forward the message of a drug-free and disciplined lifestyle.
Mini Marathon was attended by SDM Gulmarg, DYSSO Baramulla, and other officers and officials from various departments. Top performers were felicitated with appreciation certificates by the MLA during the award ceremony, who praised the youth for their proactive participation.
Later in the day, focus shifted to YSS Zone Kunzer, where a Girls Kho-Kho competition was held at playfield Kunzer under the same campaign. The event witnessed participation from over 300 girls, with teams demonstrating skill, agility, and sportsmanship.
The Kho-Kho event was presided over by MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah. In a special gesture, local cricket national-level player Mir Khushboo from Mamoosa Kunzer and other national level athletes from the previous year were felicitated with appreciation certificates, celebrating their achievements and encouraging their peers.
Speaking on both occasions, MLA stated, "We are witnessing the power of youth and sports as a weapon against drug addiction. Events like these bring purpose, discipline, and hope to our younger generation. I deeply appreciate the efforts of the Youth Services and Sports for mobilizing such positive energies across Baramulla district under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan."
These back-to-back events highlight the unwavering commitment of the Youth Services and Sports, Baramulla, in fostering awareness, fitness, and community resilience through inclusive sporting events.
