DLSA Budgam awareness programme/ campaign, rally at GGHSS Budgam

BUDGAM: In the run up to the Anti-Tobacco Day to be observed on 31st May, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam in collaboration with Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum Hq Delhi today organised an awareness programme cum campaign and a rally at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Budgam.

The event was successfully conducted under the supervision of O.P Bhagat, Chairman DLSA Budgam and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Budgam.

Principal District and Session Judge (Chairman District Legal Services Authority) Budgam in his address said, "As individuals, we have the power to make a difference in the fight against tobacco. By taking action to support anti-tobacco efforts, we can help create a world free from the devastating effects of smoking-related illnesses."

He avowed, "Let us join together in this important cause and work towards a healthier future for all."

Earlier in her presidential address, Secretary DLSA Budgam, highlighted the harmful effects of tobacco use and insisted on promotion of policies that reduce tobacco consumption.

She said, one of the most effective ways to combat tobacco use is through education and awareness campaigns. "By spreading information about the dangers of smoking and the benefits of quitting, we can help individuals make informed decisions about their health," she added.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy LADC, Nazir Ahmad Wagay said that despite known dangers, many individuals continue to use tobacco products. Both smokers and non-smokers alike need to be aware of the harmful effects of tobacco use and take steps towards quitting or avoiding exposure altogether.

The programme was actively attended by Syed Gulfar, principal Govt. Girls Hr. Secondary School Budgam; District President Budgam, Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum Hq Delhi, Secretary Education Wing J&K (UT) Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum Hq Delhi and staff of Govt. Girls Hr. Secondary institute Budgam.
