SRINAGAR: The Meteorological department on Monday predicted light spell of rains, thundershower with gusty winds in parts of Jammu and Kashmir till May 11. The officials advised general public to avoid boating, shikara riding in Dal Lake and other water bodies during the inclement weather.
An official said that that on May 5 there is a possibility of spell of rain and thundershower with gusty winds at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the weather will likely remain partly cloudy with light rain and thundershower at isolated places of Jammu and Kashmir from May 6-8.
The official continued that from May 9-11, there is a possibility of spell of light rain, thunder and gusty winds at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir. There is a possibility of intense thundershowers/thunder/lightning/gusty winds of 40-50 KMPH at isolated to scattered places of J&K, he added.
He urged general public to avoid boating, shikara riding in Dal Lake, Wular Lake and other water bodies during inclement weather. Besides landslides and mudslides at few vulnerable places may take place, he said.
The official advised general public to follow advisories from administration and traffic department, and maintained that farmers can continue their farm operation from May 6 onwards.
