CHANDIGARH: The Department of Dermatology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, has earned a remarkable distinction, being ranked, 1st in Asia and 19th in the World based on academic/research output.

EduRank, a data-driven academic ranking platform, evaluated 1,885 universities worldwide for their research performance in dermatology, based on metrics such as publications and citations. The rankings were drawn from a pool of 14,131 global universities, placing PGIMER in elite international company.

Among the top 18 institutions ranked above PGIMER globally, 14 are from the US, including Harvard University, University of California, Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, and Mount Sinai. The remaining four hail from Europe, including University College London and Charité - Berlin.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗲𝗲𝘃 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮, head of the department, said "Our consultants and residents have worked tirelessly to maintain academic excellence, even with a daily patient load of around 1000 in the OPD," he said.

On this proud occasion, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗹 𝗗𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮, a senior faculty member in the department and a native of Jammu, shared his thoughts with Jammu Links News. He said, "This recognition is a moment of immense pride for our department and the institute. It also brings with it a greater sense of responsibility to uphold and further elevate the standards of excellence in dermatological science, research, and patient care.

This achievement reflects decades of sustained teamwork, led by visionary faculty and dedicated teachers who laid a strong academic foundation and cultivated a culture of innovation and commitment. The strength of our department lies in the dedication of our residents from across the country, the vibrant academic environment, and above all, the continued trust and faith of our patients."
