DC Poonch reviews Livelihood Generation Activities under NRLM

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today reviewed National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) activities in the district, focusing on strategies to enhance rural income through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

The meeting included a detailed analysis of both physical and financial progress across blocks, emphasizing the formation and strengthening of SHGs, enhancing SHG-Bank linkages, promoting financial inclusion, and advancing various livelihood initiatives.

The Distrct Nodal Officer NRLM informed that currently there are 4,568 SHGs with 33,321 active members in the district, alongside 338 Village Organizations and 29 cluster-level federations, reflecting significant community engagement.

The discussion underscored the need for a robust income generation roadmap, particularly through empowering women via SHGs and micro-credit schemes.

The DC urged officials to accelerate the formation of additional SHGs to meet current financial year targets and stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to diversify livelihood activities, fostering overall rural development.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, District Nodal Officer NRLM, Block Programme Managers, and other relevant officials.
