DODA: The Health Department today provided free eyeglasses to inmates at District Jail Bhaderwah on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh and under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Om Kumar.
A total of 36 eyeglasses were distributed among the inmates diagnosed with the eyesight issues. The distribution was carried out by Superintendent Jail Hamid Ullah Naik, in the presence of Rishi Kumar Pandita, Nodal Officer Red Cross.
It is pertinent to mention that this initiative is the follow-up of a free eye screening camp organized by the Health Department in February 2025, during the visit of Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice Atul Sreedharan.
During the camp, 36 cases of visual impairment were identified among the inmates, who have now been provided with free spectacles as part of this welfare initiative.
Superintendent Jail, Hamid Ullah Naik expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the District Administration and the Health Department for their continued support and compassionate efforts towards inmate welfare.
This step reflects the administration's commitment to ensuring health and well-being for all sections of society, including those within correctional facilities. |
