BUDGAM: In a proactive effort to promote women empowerment and gender equality, the SANKALP Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) under Mission Shakti Budgam successfully conducted a series of impactful activities under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign across various high schools and higher secondary schools in District Budgam.

The initiative focused on creating widespread awareness among young female students on crucial issues such as menstrual hygiene, gender equality, skill development, and the rights of women. In line with these objectives, Information, Education & Communication (IEC) materials were distributed alongside sanitary vending machines, sanitary napkins, and educational kits to female students to support their personal hygiene and academic growth.

Special sessions were held to sensitize students about menstrual health management, breaking social taboos and promoting safe practices. Engaging discussions on gender roles and rights helped in fostering a culture of equality and respect within the school communities.

Furthermore, a dedicated Anti-Drug Awareness campaign was conducted under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. These sessions aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle. As part of this campaign, logo-based badges were distributed to volunteer students, recognizing them as ambassadors of change and peer influencers in the fight against substance abuse.

The multi-faceted outreach activities organized by the SANKALP Hub were widely appreciated by students, teachers, and parents alike, and reflect the district's unwavering commitment to the holistic empowerment of girls and women.
