UDHAMPUR: The District Administration Udhampur conducted a one-day awareness programme on the three newly introduced criminal laws-Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam here at Conference Hall, DC Office Complex.
Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh was the guest of honour.
The event witnessed the participation of various district and sectoral officers, students and legal experts.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest elaborated on the key provisions and implications of the newly enacted laws, emphasizing their role in strengthening the justice system. He highlighted significant features such as zero FIR registration, citizen-friendly provisions, enhanced measures against crimes involving women and children and swift legal actions. He expressed gratitude to the District Administration for organizing this awareness programme, noting that the new laws prioritize justice over punishment and ensure speedy trials and victim-centric legal procedures.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Prem Singh provided a comprehensive overview of the three laws, underscoring their importance in safeguarding citizens' rights and ensuring a transparent and expeditious justice system. He stressed that such awareness initiatives empower people with legal knowledge, enabling them to better protect their rights.
Legal experts and officials from the Police Department, acting as resource persons, conducted detailed sessions on the new legal framework. They elaborated on crucial aspects, including victim protection measures, reporting procedures and the rights of the accused, providing valuable insights into the implications of these reforms. |
