JAMMU: School of Biotechnology, SKUAST-Jammu, under the guidance of Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, on Thursday organised a guest lecture for the UG and PG students on "Entrepreneurship via Agro-tourism".
The program was funded by National Agriculture Higher Education Project, ICAR, New Delhi (NAHEP-IDP).
The lecture was delivered by Vivekanand Rai, IRS, Director, Tourism, Jammu, Department of Tourism, J&K.
In his lecture, Rai gave a comprehensive account of Jammu Agro-tourism and various government initiatives being taken by the tourism department to promote agro-tourism.
He advised the students to harvest benefits from the recently accorded GI tags to the various districts of Jammu division.
He encouraged the students to establish start-upsbased on agro-tourism and publicize the same with the help of social media. After the lecture, there was a healthy interaction in which Rai answered the queries of students related to agro-tourism and offered them a tour to the rural potential areas of Jammu division for having interaction meetings with the agro-tourism entrepreneurs.
Earlier, Prof. R.K. Salgotra, Coordinator, School of Biotechnology gave an overview of SKUAST-Jammu and welcomed the esteemed speaker and participants.
The lecture ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. G.K. Rai, Organizing Secretary and the proceedings were handled by Dr. Susheel Sharma, Assistant Professor, SBT. |
