Safeguarding Communities: 4 Days T&CBP under National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction concludes

SRINAGAR: The Department of Social Welfare, Srinagar, Government of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar marked the successful conclusion of a transformative four-day Training and Capacity Building Program (T&CBP).

This landmark initiative, dedicated to empowering frontline warriors, particularly the Aanganwadi Workers, under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction, witnessed a resounding culmination.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of dignitaries, including Jawad Ahmed, Chairman DLSA Srinagar; Dr. Mukhtair Ahmed, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Srinagar; Jahangir Ahmad Bakshi, Secretary DLSA Srinagar; Ruqaya Bhat, Women Development Officer Srinagar; Sumeeta Choudhary TSWO; Srinagar Aanganwadi Workers, para-legal volunteers, and the dedicated staff members of DLSA Srinagar and Social Welfare Department Srinagar.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman DLSA reiterated the significance of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction, emphasizing the critical role played by frontline workers in safeguarding communities against the perils of substance abuse. His remarks echoed the collective determination to implement robust strategies for a substance-free society.

The program featured comprehensive presentations by eminent resource persons from various domains. Experts from the Police Department shed light on substance abuse patterns, predictive measures, and the crucial role of law enforcement agencies in protecting communities.

Moreover, insightful sessions were conducted by resource persons from the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS), Srinagar and DLSA Srinagar, delving into substance-related disorders, early identification, prevention strategies, and the pivotal role of law enforcement in combating this societal challenge.

The Training and Capacity Building Program stands as a testament to the commitment of all stakeholders in fortifying our communities against the adverse effects of substance abuse.
