Health Mela & Awareness programme held at Fisherman Colony, Habak Srinagar

SRINAGAR: A Health Mela and an awareness programme on the menace of drug abuse was today organised by Out Reach And Drop In Centre Srinagar run by National Educational Society and Social Welfare Organization, project of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Govt. of India) in collaboration with AYUSH, Dr. Midhat Chisti, Medical Officer AHWC Shalteng Srinagar and her team at Fisherman Colony, Habak, Srinagar.

Camp witnessed a huge rush of patients and community members of the locality, who pledged to fight against the drug menace. Free consultation and free medicines were distributed among the beneficiaries.

The public was informed that Yoga, meditation and exercises improve body flexibility, strength and balance. It helps in weight loss and therefore helps reduce obesity, diabetes and hypertension.

Yoga session regarding lifestyle disorders and NCDs was given by yoga instructors Lateef Khan and Abbas.

Dr Gh Rasool Bilal from National Educational Society and Social Welfare Organization and Dr. Midhat Chisti from AYUSH provided services during the camp.

More than 100 people/patients were given free consultation and medicines on spot.

National Educational Society & Social Welfare Organization has played a vital role by conducting awareness programmes and extending medical assistance in different areas of Srinagar.
