College mourns demise of Prof Ghai

JAMMU: Students Welfare Committee of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Postal Division Jammu, on Wednesday organised an awareness camp on Mahila Samman Savings Certificate scheme announced exclusively for women and girl child in budget 2023-24 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The awareness camp was held in the College premises as an initiative to promote financial empowerment and encourage women to take control of their financial future. Information brochures, handouts and other resource materials, summarizing key points were distributed among the students and staff.

This will enable the participants to refer back to the information and continue their learning beyond the event.

A supportive and empowering environment was created among the participants and they were encouraged to take charge of their financial well-being. By providing them with the necessary knowledge, the camp contributed in building a financial secure future for women. Principal of the College, Prof. Minu Mahajan and Student's Welfare Committee thanked the organisers of the camp Kewal Chander, Postmaster Gandhi Nagar, Head-office, Rekha Devi, Sr. Suptt. PO Jammu Division, Pawan Kumar, Sr. Superintendent PO Jammu Division.

Later, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee of the College, organised a lecture on" World No Tobacco Day "on the theme "Commit to Quit".The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Gautam Sharma (MDS) Periodontist and Implantologist.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Rashmi Kumari, Convenor of NMBA.

Meanwhile, PSPS GCW Gandhinagar Jammu has mourned the demise of Padmashree Prof. Ved Kumari Ghai, a distinguished figure in the world of academia, a trailblazing social activist, and an esteemed scholar known for her exceptional contribution to Sanskrit, Hindi, Dogri, and English.

The college staff prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and extended their sympathies to the bereaved family.
