JU organises “Crafting Visual Impact: A Workshop on Art of Poster Making”

JAMMU: The Literary Club under the aegis of Utsaah, the Clubs, University of Jammu inaugurated a three day workshop for amateur artists, "Crafting Visual Impact: A Workshop on Art of Poster Making" on Monday.

Rakesh Sharma, Coordinator, Painting Club, and Head, Department of Music & Fine Arts, IMFA, University of Jammu is the resource person for the three day long art initiative. The programme commenced with the felicitation of Rakesh Sharma.

Prof. Satnam Kour, Chairperson, Utsaah, the Clubs, University of Jammu, and Head, Department of Psychology, in her welcome address, appreciated the commendable effort on the part of Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, The Literary Club and stressed upon the importance of promoting the traditional ways of undertaking this art form and the benefits of practical learning through such workshops.

Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, The Literary Club, and Associate Professor, Department of English, University of Jammu formally introduced Rakesh Sharma to the audience and congratulated him for his decades of work while discussing the practical outcomes of the workshop.

In her address, she talked about the future course of endeavours of the Club. Resource person for the workshop, Rakesh Sharma, while addressing the gathering emphasised the relevance of having such workshops.

He introduced the audience to the nuances of poster making while detailing about the importance of typographical choices, the rhythm, and kinds of poster making art.

The programme concluded with the concluding remarks and the official vote of thanks being offered by Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, The Literary Club, University of Jammu. Also present on the occasion was Ms. Vaneeka Gupta from the Department of Applied Art, IMFA, University of Jammu.

The workshop being held under the able guidance of Rakesh Sharma, in the Seminar Hall of the Department of Psychology, University of Jammu, has garnered a diverse set of student participation from across the departments of the University, who have been provided with the art supplies and necessary information around them, by the Club.

The objective of holding this workshop is to provide a platform to the students to hone on their latent talent.

And the smooth functioning of the programme was facilitated by the members of The Literary Club, University of Jammu.
