GDC Kishtwar organises online guest lecture on "Role of Human Resource in Corporate Social & Environmental sustainability"

KISHTWAR: Department of Economics, Government Degree College Kishtwar organised an online Guest lecture on the topic "Role of Human Resource in Corporate social and environmental sustainability" under the aegis of G20 and Mission Life - the initiatives of Government of India.

Prof. Dr Om Raj Katoch was the guest speaker of the event. He stressed the importance of sustainability which is often defined as the "ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs."

He further explained that Going beyond environmental sustainability, this concept now includes all types of social and environmental impacts.

As sustainability becomes a key focus for more organizations, employers must develop a new way of doing business.

In addition to focusing on financial profits, sustainable companies must also consider social and environmental impacts when making business decisions. He stressed that the HR function has a critical role to play.

The proceedings of the event were carried out by Assistant Professor Sarita Parihar, HOD of Department of Economics.

Nearly 40 students participated and many among them spoke on the occasion and covered various topics concerning various objectives of mission life and revealed the imperativeness of enriching and conserving environment in lieu to blissful life.

Dr. Jyoti Parihar, the College Principal, in her speech, highlighted how Environmental degradation and climate change impact ecosystems and populations across the globe.

She further appreciated the efforts of the Department of Economics for organizing the event and praised the participants for their outstanding speeches.

It is important to mention here that the event was organised with the objective to motivate and spread awareness among students and common masses about the Mission LiFE which was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-at COP26 in Glasgow on 1 November 2021-as a mass movement for "mindful and deliberate utilization, instead of mindless and destructive consumption"to protect and preserve the environment.

The vote of thanks was presented by Professor Sarita who appreciated the students and presented thanks to Dr. Om Raj Katoch. The event culminated successfully and was highly appreciated by the students in general and faculty members of college in particular.
