Goods train derails after flash floods damage track in Kathua

KATHUA: A goods train on its way to Punjab from Jammu derailed near the Lakhanpur area of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident occurred after incessant rains triggered a flash flood in the area, damaging the railway track, officials said on Thursday.

Officials said that, "A goods train has derailed in Kathua after a flash flood damaged the railway line in the Lakhanpur area."

He added that the train was en route to Punjab from Jammu when the incident took place.

Railway officials reached the spot immediately, and rescue work is underway to restore rail traffic on the affected track, the officials said.
