3 drug peddlers arrested in Katra

KATRA: Three separate operations led to the arrest of three alleged drug peddlers and seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics from their possession.

At Yog Ashram Katra, a patrolling party from P/S Katra intercepted a suspect carrying a bag, from which 270 Tramadol capsules and 1740 Alprazolam tablets were recovered. The accused was identified as Sham, son of Shanker Dass , resident of Kotli Pain, Tehsil & District Udhampur.

The accused was arrested on the spot and a case FIR No. 189/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Katra Police Station.

In another operation at Nomain Naka during routine checking, a man travelling from Domail towards Katra was frisked and found carrying 7.120 grams of heroin-like substance. He was identified as Vijay Sharma, son of Tirath Ram, resident of Saroon, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi. He was taken into custody and a case FIR No. 190/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered.

In third operation at PCP Moori, around 1530 hours, a motorcycle bearing registration number HR29AJ-5750 was stopped for checking. The rider was found carrying 5.570 grams of heroin . He was identified as Balwan Singh son of Budhi Singh, resident of Mundharzani, Tehsil Kastigarh, District Doda.

The accused was arrested and a case FIR No. 188/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered.

All the operations were executed under the leadership of SHO Katra Khyatimaan Khajuria and the supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr Bhishm Dubey.
