15-Day Mega IEC campaign under DAJGUA launched at Baramulla

Awareness/Benefit Saturation camp held at Dak Bungalow, offering information and on-spot services to tribal communities

BARAMULLA: District administration Baramulla today launched a 15-day Mega IEC (Information, Education and Communication) campaign under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) from Dak Bungalow Baramulla, as part of the nationwide initiative aimed at empowering tribal communities and ensuring saturation of beneficiary-oriented schemes.

The event marked a vibrant beginning to a series of activities over the next two weeks focused on raising awareness and delivering government services directly to tribal beneficiaries across the district.

The launch event witnessed the participation of public representatives, including Chairperson DDC Baramulla, Safina Beigh; Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Baramulla, Javaid Ahmad Beigh; MLA Uri, Sajad Ahmad; MLA Wagoora-Kreeri Irfan Hafiz Lone; MLA Tangmarg, Farooq Ahmad Shah; DDC and BDC members; Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa; ADDC, ACD, district and sectoral officers, and representatives from various departments, along with enthusiastic participation from tribal people belonging to all eight tribal villages of Baramulla.

At the outset of the programme, DDC chairperson, MLAs and the DC inspected stalls set up by various government departments, including health, education, handicrafts, and ICDS, acting as a one-stop platform for information dissemination, service delivery, and registration support regarding various beneficiary schemes under DAJGUA.

Meanwhile, members from the tribal communities showcased locally produced goods, traditional handicrafts, agricultural products, and artworks reflecting the rich cultural heritage, self-reliance, and unique identity of the tribal populace of Baramulla.

The highlight of the event was a series of captivating cultural performances by tribal artists and schoolchildren who presented traditional folk songs and dances, vividly portraying the region's tribal customs, values, and way of life.

During the launch event, elected public representatives underlined the cultural richness of tribal communities and applauded DAJGUA initiative, which aims to saturate 25 schemes across 17 different ministries of the central government.

They further entrusted the administration to take the campaign in a mission-mode approach and emphasized the importance of ensuring that government schemes reach the grassroots level for effective implementation.

Deputy Commissioner, while speaking on the occasion, underscored the objective of the 15-day IEC campaign, which is to aim for 100% saturation of key welfare schemes in tribal villages, stating that the campaign reflects the administration's commitment to last-mile delivery and inclusive development.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where tribal achievers and dedicated frontline workers were honoured for their exemplary contributions to the upliftment and development of their communities.
