World Environment Day 2025: GDC Ramgarh organises Pledge Ceremony as part of Pre-Campaign Activities

SAMBA: In alignment with the district-wide pre-campaign initiatives for World Environment Day (WED) 2025, Government Degree College (GDC) Ramgarh conducted a Pledge Ceremony to promote awareness on this year's global theme, "Ending Plastic Pollution Globally."

The event was held under the guidance of the Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol and coordinated by the Department of Environmental Science, led by HoD Dr. Shivali Panjgotra.

Faculty members including Dr. Snobar, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Ashok Kumar, Prof. Brham Dutt, Darpan Malhotra and students participated enthusiastically and took solemn pledge to eliminate plastic usage and advocate for sustainable practices. They vowed to contribute towards a clean, healthy and plastic-free India and avoid the use of plastic in their daily lives, to educate others on the harmful effects of plastic pollution and to commit themselves to protecting the planet for a secure and brighter future.

This initiative marks the beginning of a two-week pre-campaign launched across Samba district as directed by the Deputy Commissioner. The campaign would focus on awareness drives, cleanliness campaigns, workshops, webinars, and other environment-focused activities involving different departments and stakeholders.

The College Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol appreciated the initiative and commended the active participation of students and faculty.

She encouraged everyone to continue their involvement in future environmental activities, workshops, cleanliness drives, and webinars that are scheduled as part of the World Environment Day 2025 campaign.
