Registers 95% fund utilization under HADP (2024-25), AHD doubles departmental revenue

REASI: Reasi district has emerged as a model in livestock development by introducing wide ranging reforms and effective strategies aligned with the flagship schemes.

Through coordinated governance and strategic implementation, the district has achieved exceptional results across flagship schemes like the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), National Livestock Mission, and Mission Utkarsh.

Under Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik's administrative guidance, the Animal Husbandry Department has witnessed structural and functional reforms - with a focus on decentralization, data-backed planning, and inter-departmental synergy. This governance framework enabled the department to attain 95% fund utilization under HADP (2024-25) - one of the highest in the Union Territory.

Other notable achievements include the training of over 230 MAITRI and A-Help workers, establishment of 34 Free Range Poultry Units, creation of 21 new dairy farms, and a 348% AI target overachievement under Mission Utkarsh. Revenue from departmental activities increased more than doubled this year, reflecting both impact and sustainability.

Veterinary infrastructure also saw significant upgrades, with the launch of Mobile Veterinary Units in Katra and Reasi, modernization of veterinary dispensaries, and the rollout of free services like deworming, FMD vaccinations, and sex-sorted semen distribution. These initiatives brought critical services closer to remote communities across the district.

Looking ahead, the administration has launched Vision Document 2047, a long-term plan to establish Reasi as a hub for livestock innovation - focusing on genetic improvement, increased milk productivity, and a full-scale poultry estate.

Reasi's inclusive and replicable development model continues to stand as an example of effective, people-centric governance in action under the visionary leadership of Deputy Commissioner and the execution by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer.
