GDC Ramkote observes Anti Terrorism Day

KATHUA: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ramkote observed Anti Terrorism Day by organising a Poster Making Competition today on the theme "Say No to Terrorism".

The event was organised under the guidance of the College Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul to raise awareness among students about the devastating impact of terrorism, honour the lives lost due to terrorist acts, and promote peace, harmony and national unity.

National Anti-Terrorism Day is observed across India every year on 21st May to mark the assassination anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was killed by a suicide bomber in 1991 in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.

A total of 15 students of BA Semester-2 namely Nitakshi Devi, Kriti Devi, Sonali Sharma, Tania Sharma, Richu Devi, Raghbir Singh, Yashpaul Singh, Nenshe, Priyanka Devi, Neha Devi, Rita Rani, Kajal Devi, Pooja Devi, Sulactiona Devi, and Minakshi Sharma participated in the competition and showcased their creativity through posters depicting solidarity against terrorism.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul highlighted the importance of maintaining a vigilant and prepared society. He mentioned that National Anti-Terrorism Day is not just a day of remembrance but also a call to action. It encourages citizens to reject hate, avoid radicalisation and embrace peace as the cornerstone of a progressive after the competition all faculty members and students took Anti Terrorism Pledge with an objective to wean away the youth from terrorism and the cult of violence.

The students who secured first, second and third position in the competition were Kajal Devi, Nenshe and Neha Devi. Prof. Suresh Chander, Convener NSS Advisory Committee also addressed the students and encouraged them to participate in college activities.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof.Anu Sharma, NSS PO emphasizing the need to protect India from threats like terrorism and building strong citizens that can serve the nation well.

The students and the organising committee were appreciated by the Principal of the college for fostering a sense of patriotism and national pride.
