GDC Ramgarh celebrates World Water Day

SAMBA: Government Degree College, Ramgarh celebrated World Water Day, emphasizing the importance of water conservation and the role each individual plays in safeguarding this precious resource.

The event organized by the Department of Environmental Science in collaboration with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, Swankha aimed to raise awareness about the growing global water crisis and the need for collective action to conserve water.

The program was organized under the guidance and supervision of the College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra.

The theme for this year's World Water Day, "Glacier Preservation", was highlighted during the event. The program focused on how glaciers, which provide vital freshwater resources, are rapidly melting due to climate change and the resulting threat this poses to water availability. Dr. Shivali Panjgotra, Head of the Department of Environmental Science, addressed the gathering with a message: "Glaciers are not just ice; they are life-sustaining resources for many communities worldwide.

As part of the event, students, faculty members including Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Dr. Snobar, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Prof. Brham Dutt, Ashok Kumar, Dr. Neeraj Balgotra, Dr. Susheel Kumar, Darpan, Anjali and Priya Sharma and officials from the PHE Department took a pledge to conserve water in their daily lives and promote water-saving practices within their communities.

The pledge also encouraged participants to spread awareness about glacier preservation and the importance of protecting freshwater resources.
