DC Baramulla reviews Road Safety Measures & Traffic Regulations

BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review the implementation of road safety measures and traffic regulations in the district.

During the meeting, the DC issued several directives to improve road safety and infrastructure in Baramulla.

Taking cognizance of violations by school buses, DC directed the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) to take strict action against violators to ensure the safety of school children.

Meanwhile, Minga Sherpa instructed the Executive Officers of Baramulla, Sopore, and Pattan Municipalities to ensure the installation of street lights along the National Highway to enhance visibility and safety for commuters.

He also directed the concerned authorities to expedite the repair work on the Sopore Bypass Bridge and other roads, particularly near Delina, where a flyover is under construction.

Addressing concerns regarding road obstructions, the DC instructed Tehsildars, Block Development Officer (BDO), Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), and other relevant agencies to initiate the process of removing old age trees, non-functional telephone poles and electric poles along road sides that pose risks to commuters, following due procedures.

Furthermore, to enhance public awareness about traffic rules, the DC instructed the District Information Officer and the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to undertake mass dissemination of revised traffic fines issued by government.

The meeting was attended by the SE, Additional Superintendent of Police Sopore, ARTO, officers from BEACON and other senior officers from the concerned departments.
