Dense fog blankets Srinagar as snowfall predicted in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Srinagar city and the adjoining areas were engulfed with a dense fog on Friday ahead of the snowfall prediction by the weather department.

Amid the foggy conditions, all the vehicles were plying on roads using the fog lights.

There has been a prediction of another spell of snow and rains from January 5 of 2025.

As per the details shared by the Kashmir Weather Shopian district in south Kashmir remained coldest place with -8.5°C while Anantnag recorded -7.7°C, Larnoo -8.2°C, Kulgam -6.8°C and Khudwani -7.1°C.

Srinagar city recorded -2.2°C temperature, Ganderbal -4.3°C, Budgam (-3.2°C), Qazigund (-7.3°C), Pulwama (-6.1°C) and Pahalgam -4.5°C.

In north Kashmir parts Baramulla recorded -4.8°C, Bandipora and Gulmarg at -5.5°C.

In Jammu division, Padder area recorded lowest at -1.2°C while Katra recorded the highest temperature at 11.0°C and Jammu district recorded 7.3°C.

Temperature in Samba was recorded at 6.1°C, Bhaderwah 2.3°C, Banihal 2.0°C, Kathua 9.1°C, Rajouri 6.4°C, Udhampur 7.3°C, Poonch 8.1°C and Batote recorded 5.8°C.

As per the details, Ladakh witnessed intense cold weather as Drass recorded -8.6°C, Kargil -6.9°C, and Leh -4.4°C.
