JAMMU: Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu hosted its highly anticipated Annual Sports Meet 2024, which was inaugurated by Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma.
The event, held at the school premises, was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council; Aneesa Nabi, Senior Project Manager at J&K Rural Livelihood Mission; Aman Gupta, Archit Puri, Sidhani Singh, Soham Kamotra and others.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ritu Singh, Pro-Vice Chairperson of DPS Jammu; S.S. Sodhi, Director of DPS Jammu; Ruchi Chabra, Principal; Meenu Gupta, Vice Principal, along with the school's staff, students, and parents.
The theme of the event, "Khwahishon Ki Udaan - Celebrating Social Bonds, Inclusion, and Peace," encapsulated the spirit of unity and excellence. Over 2,000 students participated in various athletic demonstrations and events.
Dr. Ritu Singh presented tokens of appreciation, including potted plants, khadi certificates, and handcrafted paintings created by the students, to the dignitaries. She emphasized the importance of sports in shaping young leaders and maintaining a balanced education.
Chief guest Satish Sharma, who is also an alumnus of DPS Jammu, released balloons to declare the Sports Meet open. He praised the school's contributions to the educational landscape of J&K and acknowledged its role in nurturing many distinguished individuals over the years.
The event began with a spirited performance by the school choir, followed by vibrant displays, including a Taekwondo drill, Lazium Drill, Pom-Pom Drill, and a grand march past led by House Captains.
Sports events included the Ball & Cone Race, Sack Race, Ladder & Hurdle Race, 200m, 400m, and 4x100m relay races. Chenab House emerged as the Overall Winner.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Meenu Gupta, Vice Principal.
