GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur celebrates International Youth Day and National Sports Day

UDHAMPUR: Under the aegis of International Youth Day, Red Ribbon Club Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur in collaboration with J&K Aids Control Society flagged off a rally from the college premises followed by a Tug of War to mark and celebrate "National Sports Day".

The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Seema Arora, Principal of the college.

As many as 50 students participated in the rally carrying the banner and spreading awareness on HIV/AIDS and fighting stigma and discrimination against people living with this infection. The purpose of the program was to create awareness among the students about this deadly disease.

The rally was followed by a tug of war between Team A and Team B of the college where Team B was victorious.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal emphasized the students to show support for the people living with and affected by HIV and to remember those who lost their lives to AIDS. She also encouraged the students to lead a healthy life through sports.

The Principal appreciated the efforts of the participants and congratulated the staff and the students for organizing such an event. Dr. Sunil Tanoch (HOD Sociology) was the Convenor of the event.

Others present in the event were Dr. Maansi Sharma, Prof. Rekha Sharma, Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal.
