DC Bandipora chairs Road Safety meeting

Emphasizes joint & collaborative efforts to implement road safety initiatives

BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman on Friday convened a meeting of District Road Safety Committee at Mini Secretariat Bandipora to discuss various pressing concerns of road safety in the district.

The meeting deliberated upon various points, including raising awareness about road safety, black spot identification and rectification, erection of crash barriers, road widening, etc.

Executive Engineer R&B, Bandipora, who is also Member Secretary, District Road Safety Committee, apprised the meeting about different projects undertaken.

Speaking on the occasion, DC emphasized awareness initiatives to promote safe driving practices among all road users.

He stressed on the Motor Vehicle Department, Police and Urban Local Bodies to ensure joint and collaborative efforts for effective implementation of road safety initiatives in the district.

To avoid traffic congestion in the main market, DC asked ARTO Bandipora, Traffic Police and other concerned people to devise a plan for one-way traffic in the main market and take proactive measures to avoid road side parking.

He also instructed the concerned officers to install crash barriers, signages, and traffic signals to address road safety concerns comprehensively.

Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC Umar Shafi Pandit, ARTO Anees Ahmad, Ex. Engineer R&B Asadullah Najar, Ex. Engineer PMGSY Mohammad Hussain, DySP Ahmad Shaafi and other concerned.
