JAMMU: The Translation Club of Utsaah, Club Consortium of Jammu University today organized a symposium on poetry and its translation during the ten-day multi-arts festival, Protsaahan.

The event was graced by Sapna Kotwal (JKAS), Secretary of the Pahari Advisory Board, as the Chief Guest, whereas acclaimed pahari poet Swami Antar Nirav Singh and renowned Dogri poet Promila Manhas were the resource persons.

While welcoming the participants and chief guest on the occasion, Chairperson UTSAAH, clubs consortium, Prof Satnam Kour said that under the supervision of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof Umesh Rai, this initiative has been taken in which 12 different clubs are carrying various activities during this 10-day arts festival.

"It is heartening to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of the students and faculty involved in promoting linguistic diversity and cultural understanding," said Prof Satnam Kour, adding that the credit for the success of these club goes to all the coordinators.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Sapna Kotwal said that translation, as a bridge between cultures, plays a crucial role in developing mutual respect and appreciation. "The discussions today reflected a deep engagement with the complexities of linguistic expression and the transformative power that lies within the art of translation," she said and appreciated initiatives by the University of Jammu for the welfare of students and civil society.

Earlier, students from different departments recited poems and their translation in different languages. Dr Garima Gupta, Coordinator translation club presented formal vote of thanks. The function was conducted by Anlina Shapoo and Anjali Khajuria.
