GDC Ramgarh conducts Mock UN General Assembly session

Students ably discuss pressing global issues

SAMBA: Government Degree College Ramgarh, today organized a Mock United Nations General Assembly session under the guidance of Prof (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.

The event was collectively organised by Departments of Political Science & Sociology.

At the outset, the Principal of the College Dr. Geetanjali Andotra spoke about the benefits of holding such a Mock UN Assembly session that not only expands the database of knowledge but helps in experiential learning by proceeding an exposure to the wide range of issues being faced by the Nations, World over. She congratulated the participants and the faculty for taking this initiative.

In the mock session students were divided into 15 groups each consisting of two students, representing delegates from each country. The participants delivered the original speeches as delivered by the heads of respective countries in the UN General Assembly September session.

The delegates of different countries discussed various issues and concerns related to terrorism, climate change, poverty, gender inequality, Russia-Ukraine war, Israel-Palestine conflict, problem of marginalization, artificial intelligence etc.

The whole programme was composed by Dr. Shivali Choudhary and Priya Sharma. A large number of students attended the Mock session. The faculty members were present Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Risha Kumari, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Prof. Brham Dutt, Dr. Shivali Choudhary. Priya Sharma, Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmed, Dr. Paramjeet Kour, Dr. Ekta Rani, Monika Kumari, Akanksha, Ram Murti and Sunil Kumar.
