DHEW Bandipora organises BBBP awareness program at GHSS Mantrigam

BANDIPORA: District Hub for Empowerment of Women (Mission Shakti) on Tuesday organised a day-long awareness programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at Government Higher Secondary School Mantrigam.

Principal GHSS Mantrigam, Masood ul Hassan Reshi was the chief guest on the occasion while Gender Specialists Sumaya Muzaffar and Aisha Shafi and Financial Literacy specialist Najmu Saqib besides teachers and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Speaking at the event, the principal of the School highlighted the importance of girl education and stressed on the upliftment of girls' socio-economic status. He said education is the way to uplift the socio-economic condition of the girls in society.

On the occasion, specialist in financial literacy Najm-u-Saqib highlighted Sukanaya Samridhi Yojana-a sub scheme under BBBP and urged the women folk to build a fund for higher education and other expenses of their girl child.

Gender Specialists Aisha Shafi and Sumaya Muzzafar highlighted the importance of girl children, their education and financial independence and informed participants how the government has come up with many schemes to help girls/women to accomplish education, employment and self-reliance.

They gave a brief introduction about various welfare schemes offered by the government for the females besides informing the students about self-employment schemes offered by the government to facilitate the young educated females to start their own income generation units.

DHEW team members also distributed education kits among girl students including bags, tiffin boxes, water bottles and other stationery material.
