DHEW Bandipora organises Awareness/ Sensitization programme at Sumbal

BANDIPORA: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Bandipora on Saturday organised an awareness cum sensitization programme regarding Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign at CDPO office Sumbal.

The programme was attended by Supervisors, Anganwadi workers, mothers of baby girls and the DHEW team.

On the occasion, the Gender Specialist DHEW Bandipora Aisha Shafi highlighted the objectives of BBBP and various welfare schemes that are in vogue for the education, skill development and income generation of the female child.

The speakers also sensitized the female folk about the women rights and the women centric schemes meant for the protection and empowerments of women. The speakers also laid Special emphasis on PC PNDT Act, MTP Act and other women related legislations and raised awareness on women specific centres where women can approach to avail different services.

Speakers highlighted the key role of women in harmonizing and strengthening social relations and bonds.

On the occasion, DHEW also distributed baby kits among newly born female babies of the block and felicitated their mothers to celebrate the birth of girl child.

Gender specialist Sumaya Muzaffar stated that they must encourage girls for socio-economic and political development of society.

She informed the audience about skill development and training programmes provided under various schemes including Skill Mission Development, Himayat and UMEED.
