Week-long ‘Sankalp Saptaah' programme inaugurated at Singhpora Pattan

Programme aims to improve Governance at Block level: SDM Pattan

BARAMULLA: A unique week-long Government's ambitious initiative, 'Sankalp Saptaah,' was today kick-started at Block Singhpora Pattan here amid series of activities undertaken by Health Department to saturate the desired targets as envisaged under Sampoorna Swasthya 'Ek Sankalp'.

At Sub Health Centre Singhpora, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Pattan, Syed Fahim Bihaqi inaugurated the week long 'Sankalp Saptaah'.

Among huge number of people, Block Medical Officer Pattan, concerned authorities from Rural Development, Education and other departments were present on the inaugural day.

During the event, a medical camp was organized wherein Medical experts provided health services to the people besides a comprehensive awareness was imparted to the participants especially women about the importance of nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Speaking with regard to the implementation of the campaign in Block Singhpora and terming the week long programme as a unique initiative to improve governance at Block level, SDM informed that the week long programme aims at saturating indicators under Health and Nutrition, basic livelihood, agriculture in block Singhpora by bringing in innovative methods.

On the occasion, the SDM informed that maximum indicators will be saturated by all the identified departments within a week-long programme. He added that the main focus is Antenatal care for women, immunization in dropouts and vulnerable groups, NCD Screening to detect early Non-Communicable Diseases and other high risk Diseases.

Bihaqi asserted that the coordinated approach will be adopted by all the concerned authorities for tuberculosis elimination by intensifying drives for screening and treatment of Tuberculosis patients.

Elaborating further, the SDM said that cleanliness drives will also be held in all panchayats with an initiative towards polythene-free block.

Similar activities as part of 'Sankalp Saptah' were also undertaken in all 08 Health and Wellness centres in Medical Block Pattan Singhpora and during which a free Medical checkup besides an awareness programmes were organized for the people.
