Intra-college declamation contest on theme ‘Truth and Non-Violence' held at GDC Vijaypur

SAMBA: To mark the observance of International Day of Non-violence, Government Degree College Vijaypur organized a declamation contest on the theme Truth and Non-Violence here as a part of Gandhi Jayanti Celebration 2023 and under the flagship banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat and Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K.

A large number of students of semester 3 and semester 5 presented their valuable views.

The first prize was won by Taniya Jamwal of BA Sem-IIIwhile second position was shared by Abhishek Rajra, Tanshu and Haroon Malik of BA Sem-V and the third prize was secured by NikitaSharma of Sem-V.

The proceedings of the program were carried out by Keshav Mehra, student of B.Com. Sem-V.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Shittal Sharma and Prof. Poonam Kundan under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College.

The competition was judged by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Renuka Kundal (Lecturer, Dept. of Political Science) and Dr. Neelam Kumari (Lecturer, Dept. of Hindi).

Prof Vandana Gupta, in her address, asserted that Gandhian philosophy was based on the concept of truth, satyagraha, honesty and non-violence which gives us psychological strength to live a sound and healthy life. She further added that Gandhiji believed that when character is lost everything is lost. So,one of the main objectives of education should be character and personality development.

The final vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science). All the participants were awarded with the certificates.
