National Technology Day celebrated at UIET Kathua Campus

KATHUA: The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu celebrated the National Technology Day on 11th & 12th May 2023 by organizing a series of events for the students.

The department of Civil Engineering organized a field visit of its students to the 206 MW Shahpur Kandi Dam Project located on Ravi River downstream of Ranjit Sagar Dam in collaboration with the Department of Water Resource, Govt. of Punjab.

The key objective of the field trip was to impart practical knowledge and exposure besides enhancing the technical skills of the students in a real time environment. This trip provided the students an opportunity to learn from real world examples and to observe and analyze the practical applications of various engineering concepts, techniques and solutions.

The students of Civil Engineering were briefed about the whole process of construction and working of the dam project by the experienced team of engineers comprised of Chief Engineer, Superintendent Engineer and Executive Engineer of Department of Water Resource, Govt. of Punjab.

The students were accompanied by faculty members of UIET namely Er. Sarvdaman Sharma, Er. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Ritika Gupta and Dr. Ritu Sharma. 

Er. Sarvdaman Sharma on behalf of UIET presented a memento to the Chief Engineer as a token of thanks for providing an opportunity to UIET students to visit the dam and to get real time practical experience.

On 12th May, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, organized a one day Workshop in Collaboration with Finnlogic-IT Services Pvt. Ltd, Bangalore on ‘Cyber Security and Cloud Computing’ for the students of Computer Science and Engineering.

Resource persons focused on Machine learning, which is the backbone of cyber security as it makes cyber security simpler and easy to detect online threats.

This event was mainly organized by Er. Rakshit Khajuria and other faculty members under the guidance of Prof. Susheel Kumar Sharma (Coordinator) and was attended by students of UIET besides Dr. Vivek Sharma, Dr. Pankaj Khajuria, Er. Komal Khadotra, Er. Sandeep Raj, Er. Sushant Gagal, Er. Pallavi, Er. Rajan Verma, Dr. Ritu Sharma, Er. Vishavjeet, Dr. Ritika Gupta and other faculty members of UIET. Prof. Susheel Kumar Sharma (Coordinator, UIET) in his message highlighted that “Engineering is not just a profession; it’s a way of thinking, problem solving and shaping the world” and appreciated the sincere efforts of organizers for successful conduct of events.
