JU organises 4 Day Art Of Living Workshop at Balgran

JAMMU: The Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies University of Jammu in collaboration with The Art of Living foundation Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh is organising a four-day The Art of Living workshop titled

'Utkarsha Yoga" for the children of Balgran,Jammu, which is a charitable home for destitute children in Jammu. The Utkarsha Yoga Program is a unique blend of breathing techniques, exercises and games that enable children to face today's ultra-competitive world and still retain their confidence and uniqueness.

The core of the program is going to be the Sudarshan Kriya-a breathing technique that removes stress, fear and, aggression, and enhances positive emotions. The purpose of the workshop is to build the capacity and empower young minds to bring out the best in themselves.

Prof Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs was the chief guest at the inaugural session. In his address, Prof Padha highlighted the role of such workshops in bringing the underprivileged sections of societies into the mainstream.

He further appreciated the efforts of the Gandhian Centre in identifying the children of Balgran for taking the training through this workshop.

Sameer Bharti IFS , member apex body of The art of living J&K was the special guest who in his address highlighted role of such workshops in developing the moral values of the young minds.

Dr Anuja Jasrotia Senior Faculty from The Art of Living provided an overview of The Art of Living Programmes being held across the globe catering to the diverse sections of society.

Vinod Raina, Secretary Balgran acquainted the audience regarding the objectives and activities of the Balgran. Sh. Ajay Kapoor, state coordinator, Bureau of communications and Projects presented the formal vote of thanks.

Earlier Dr Seema Rohmetra, incharge Director, The Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies University of Jammu in her welcome address highlighted the role of such workshops in making value addition to the life of children and youth.

She also expressed her gratitude to the entire Art of Living team and the managing body of Balgran for giving a concrete shape to her proposal regarding the conduct of the workshop.

Nearly seventy students in total from third to the seventh standard are going to attend the workshop next three days.

Among others who attended the inaugural session included Dr Sapna Sangra, Dr Shubha Vats, Dr Monica Narang from JU, Madam Anju Gupta senior faculty, Jai Aggarwal Member Apex body, Sunny assisting faculty, Ranjoy, Jogeshwar from AOL, Neha Bharti and Bipasha Raina.
