Two-Day Faculty Mentor Development Workshop concludes at JU

JAMMU: Two-day Faculty Mentor Development Workshop organized by School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM)&University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation (UOJSPVF), University of Jammu in collaboration with BIMTECH concluded today at University of Jammu.

Diksha Nigam, Senior Manager, Invest India during her session deliberated upon the various initiatives of Invest India and how the Government is providing support to the start-ups towards handholding, funding, resources and industry-academia partnerships. While providing a glimpse of the role of startups in the Indian economy, she acquainted the participants with the process and benefits of getting recognized with Startup India.

Earlier Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas, CEO and Director, University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation (UOJSPVF) and Director, SHTM,while addressing the audience expressed the importance of this program in creating ‘Super Mentors' who can facilitate in developing an entrepreneurial mindset amongst the youth of the country.

He stressed upon how this program can act as an enabler in sensitizing and creating awareness about entrepreneurship and its contribution towards transforming the society at large.

He also mentioned about the various leadership and development programmes as well as capacity building and mentorship programmes offered by UOJSPVF to train aspiring entrepreneurs.

Amit Singhal, Founding Partner, Fluid Ventures, spoke about idea funding and investment opportunities in the country.

He mentioned that howsoever a good product or a business idea an entrepreneur may have, the capital and financial leverage will almost inevitably be a necessity.

He also specified that entrepreneurs need to make efforts to ensure profitability of businesses, revenue and employment generation as well as creating societal benefits.

Dr. Abha Rishi, CEO, AIC-BIMTECH, in her session stressed on the role of faculty in mentoring and supporting students in idea generation and its effective implementation. She further emphasized upon the importance of networking, as it allows people to grow their entrepreneurial prospects, build relationships, break into new markets and collaborate with others.

Sanyam Dhingra, Asst. General Manager, AIC-BIMTECH highlighted the significance of creating and developing E-cells on campus. Further he shared their journey running Incubator & how incubators can support startups from Idea to commercialization.

The workshop concluded with Q&A session and was coordinated by Sanyam Dhingra, Asst. General Manager, AIC-BIMTECH.
