GDC Ramgarh organises extension lecture

SAMBA: The NSS Unit Prabha, in collaboration with the Department of Hindi, Government Degree College Ramgarh organized an extension lecture to mark the ‘Rashtriya Hindi Diwas'.

The program was organized under the supervision of the College Principal, Dr. Satinder Kaur.

Dr. Ekta Rani, Department of Hindi, GDC Ramgarh was the resource person on the occasion.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Seema Sharma, Department of Education. She welcomed all the faculty members, NSS volunteers and students of the College, and congratulated them on the occasion of Rashtriya Hindi Diwas.

In her lecture, the resource person highlighted the reasons for observing and celebrating this day. She said that on 14th of September, 1949, the Constituent Assembly took a decision to make Hindi the official language of India as the majority of the regions in India are Hindi-speaking.

"Therefore, it was unanimously decided that Hindi be adopted as the official language" she said and added that in the year 1953, it was decided that every year on 14th of September, the whole nation shall observe and celebrate Rashtriya Hindi Diwas."

Later, Dr. Shamsher Lal, Programme Officer, NSS unit Prabha proposed the formal vote of thanks.

He thanked all the faculty members, NSS volunteers and students of the College for attentively listening to the lecture.

The organizing committee included Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Prof. Risha Kumari, Minakshi Sharma, Dr. Anjali Bala, and Dr. Rahul Kundal.
